Ornaments For Officers Announces 2012 Chairperson, Presents $5,000 Check to The BackStoppers

21 Jan

Kirkwood, MO (January 19, 2012) On Wednesday, Ornaments for Officers will introduce its new Chairperson and present The BackStoppers with a check from its second annual fundraiser. Susan King, widow of Sergeant Michael King of the University City Police Department, will be serving as Chairperson for 2012. Pulaski Bank Chairman of the Board Gary W. Douglass, Jarrett Estes of Great Clips, and Ornaments for Officers director Rick Ruderer will present the check for $5,000 to The BackStoppers.

The check presentation will take place on January 25, 2012 at 1:30pm, following a luncheon for surviving spouses provided by St. Louis Bread Company at the Pulaski Bank headquarters at 12300 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur MO, 63141.

As Ornaments for Officers enters its third year, organizers are optimistic about the potential for growth. Said Ruderer, “We are thrilled to have Susan King involved as chairperson, and we hope that her story will remind people how important The BackStoppers’ mission is to our community.” The proceeds raised by Ornaments for Officers go to The BackStoppers to provide support to the families of police, firefighters, and EMTs killed in the line of duty.

Through the holiday season, Ornaments for Officers collected donated Christmas ornaments, which were then sold at Pulaski Banks, Great Clips, Laurie’s Shoes, Richard Roberts Jewelry, Paul Stuart Jewelers, Rock Hill Jewelers, and Kirkwood City Hall for just $3.00 each. Donations of ornaments for 2012 are welcome year-round at Richard Roberts Jewelry in Kirkwood.
